A condensed version of this book (4 volumes, over 1600 pages) is called "Divine Mysteries of the Most Holy Rosary", and costs just $6.00. One of the best books on the Rosary that I have ever read.Mary, and the twelve Apostles and the rest of the disciples joyfully waited for the fulfilment of the promise of the Saviour, that He would send them the Holy Spirit. When the days of Pentecost were about to be fulfilled (which happened 50 days after the Resurrection of the Lord, our Redeemer) the Most Blessed Mother saw how, in Heaven, the Humanity of the Word conferred with the Eternal Father about this, and He besought the Father also, that the Holy Spirit appear in the world in visible form. On Pentecost morning,the Blessed Virgin Mary exhorted the Apostles, the disciples and the pious women, numbering 120, to pray more frequently, and renew their hopes since the hour was at hand in which they were to be visited by the Holy Spirit. At about 9 o'clock the air resounded with tremendous thunder and the blowing of a a violent wind mixed with the brightness of fire or lightning, all centering on the House of the Cenacle. The house was enveloped in light,and the Divine Fire was poured out over all of that holy gathering. Over the head of each of the 120 persons appeared a tongue of that same fire, in which the Holy Spirit had come, filling each one with Divine Influences and Heavenly Gifts. |
