The Luminous Mysteries

The Baptism of Our Lord

These meditations are taken from the Holy Bible (Matthew 3:13-17)

Then Jesus came from Galilee to John, at the Jordan, to be baptised by him. And John was for hindering Him, and said, "It is I who ought to be baptised by Thee, and dost thou come to me?"

But Jesus answered, and said to him, "Let it be so now, for so it becomes us to fulfil all justice."

Then He permitted him, and when Jesus had been baptised, he immediately came up from the water. And behold the heavens were opened up to Him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove and coming upon Him.

And behold a voice from Heaven said, "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased."
(Matthew 3:13-17)
